As-salamu alaykum ladies, Hope you’re having a lovely day. I thought that I would do a tag as my first blogpost. This is the mummy tag that a lot of mom bloggers and Youtubers have done. Hopefully this will give you a bit of an insight into my parenting and let you ladies get to know me a little better.
Are you a stay-at-home mum, or a working mum?
Currently I’m an overqualified stay at home mom with a master’s degree in Human resource management under my belt.
Would you have it any other way?
No. My son is only 7 months old and just thinking of leaving him to go to work gives me anxiety. With that said I’ll be starting work when he’s around one.
Do you co-sleep?
Yes. My son’s cot is in our room & I wouldn’t have it any other way it makes everything so much easier than if we had him in his own room. He also sometimes sleeps with us in the bed (a habit that we are trying to stop).
What is your one must-have item for your baby?
Pacifier, it soothes him when he’s in a bad mood and also when he wants to sleep.
A lot of people don’t support the use of a pacifier especially in Nairobi for many reasons. The decision to give my son a pacifier was after a midwife suggested it to us in Australia. After hearing many criticism I asked our GP, MCHN and also his paediatrician and they all agreed that it does not affect the baby in any way as long as it is cleaned and sterilised just like baby bottles and as long as the baby is weaned off it by the age of 3.
How many kids do you plan on having?
As many as Allah wills for us In Sha’Allah. I don’t have a set number.
Date night? How many nights per month?
unfortunately not many date nights for us unless you count watching shows when the baby falls a sleep.
Your child’s favourite show?
He loves BabyTv, soccer & a somali children’s song called hooyadeey waxeey igu tiri.
Name one thing you bought before you had your baby and never ended up using?
All the tiny baby outfits because my son was 4.17 kgs Masha’Allah and also the baby monitor.
Your child’s favourite food?
We just started introducing solids at 6 months he seems to enjoy it all Alhamdulillah.
How many cars does your family have?
One car that my husband drives because I still don’t have my license.
Weight gain before pregnancy, during, after and now?
I gained 25 kilos through out my pregnancy but because I was very petite to begin with it wasn’t so bad. I lost around 7 kgs after my pregnancy and gained 3 back now.
Dream holiday with your kids?
Dream holiday without your kids?

How has your life changed since your baby has been born?
Having a baby turns you into a better person, you care about others more and your heart becomes softer.
Finish the sentence: ‘It makes my heart melt to see …
my baby’s smile
Where do you shop for your kids?
Since moving to Nairobi in May we haven’t done much shopping for him because I had suitcases full of clothes for him up to size 24 months from Melbourne. Most of his clothes are from Bonds ( the wondersuits are amazing), pumpkin patch, Ollie’s place, Target. My mom also got him some clothes from London & my father in law got him stuff from South Africa (talk about being spoiled by his grandparents)
Favourite makeup and skincare products?
MAC foundation and Sukin scrub.
Huggies or Pampers?
Pampers. We used Huggies when my son was a new born but switched to Pampers when he got a bit older and we were having issues with leakage. Pampers never leaked so far.
Have you always wanted kids?
Yes. I always wanted to become a mother.
Best part about being a mum?
The way my son looks at me with love. I love being a mum Alhamdulillah.
